Scripture Lesson: Exodus 11:1-10

Dr. Anderson is a native of Wilmington, NC and the youngest of three children born to Bishop & Mrs. Herman L. Anderson Sr.  Dr. Anderson was licensed to preach by the Kentucky Conference (1980) and has pastored for over 34 years. His pastorates include the following AME Zion Churches, Bethel (Matthews, NC) 1981-82; Sandy Ridge (Landis, NC) 1982-86; East Stonewall (Charlotte, NC) 1986-96; St. Paul (Detroit, MI) 1996-2009; Grace (Charlotte, NC) 2009-2016 and currently Soldiers Memorial (Salisbury, NC) 2016 to present.

Dr. Anderson has been committed to serving the whole person both within and outside the walls of the church building by putting emphasis on disciple making and outreach. He has led congregations in building churches, major renovation projects, saving souls, and growing ministries within the church and community.

Dr. Anderson has earned the following degrees: B.A. from Hampton University,   M.S. in Community Development from University of Louisville, M. Div. from Hood Theological Seminary, and D. Div. from Asbury Theological Seminary. He is married to Reverend Margaret Roberson Anderson, President of International Ministers’ Spouses & Windows(es) Fellowship. They have four adult children and four grandchildren.

Dr. Anderson is committed to investing in the growth and health of the local church by investing in the leadership, discipleship and stewardship of the local church.  He works with laity to develop a church growth plan and equips lay leaders of the local church with the principles and strategies for developing a plan of growth.
